Full cheeks are a sign of youth. Think of all the kids whose cheeks you want to pinch because they are round and full. Over time, as we age, we lose that volume and our cheeks begin to flatten and the skin in the cheek area falls slightly which often leads to lines around the mouth as well (nasolabial folds).

The reason why so many people worry about the cheek area is because apple-like cheeks give that youthful appearance and add a beautiful curve to the face. For people looking to restore the volume in their cheeks and those who never had cheeks to begin with, Voluma is perfect!

What is Voluma?

Voluma is made by Allergan, the makers of Botox® and other popular facial fillers like Juvederm. Voluma is specifically indicated for the midface, to provide lift and volume to the cheek area. How does it work? Here’s a rundown of the process[42].

Voluma Technique: How Does It Work?

First, a topical numbing agent is applied to the skin for approximately 15-20 minutes. Then a skilled medical professional will make a few marks on the face to provide guidance of symmetry as well as areas where blood vessels are located. The injector will inject the Voluma just above the bone. Though this might sound painful, patients will actually feel nothing. In fact, most patients say this is more comfortable than receiving other fillers that are injected within the skin tissue layers.

From our experience at WIFH, most patients will need one to two syringes to get the desired results. The results are subtle yet dramatic; it’s amazing how refreshed it will make a patient look. The comments some of our patients have made are they look rested and they just look happier (because their face is lifted), many also see improvement in the lines around their mouths as the Voluma technique lifts the skin upward.

What Makes Voluma Injection Different from Other Facial Fillers?

Other than its focus on the mid-face specifically, Voluma is also designed to build upward for lift and volume as opposed to other fillers that bind with water and plump. Patients will be more than satisfied with the results they see from Voluma. The injections will restore volume in the cheek area, leaving the face looking rested, happy, and youthful, without making people look like they’ve had cheek implants. Best of all, the results are instant and last up to two years!
